BANGALORE: In separate incidents, two women ended their lives in the city on Saturday evening, the police said.

Unable to bear alleged dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws, Suma (20) hanged herself at her house in Chikkaswamy Layout Third Main Road.

A native of a village near K M Doddi in Mandya, she was married to Venkatesh, a gardener in a reputed private college, in February last year.

The police said that Suma was found hanging in her room on Saturday around 8 pm.

Her mother Jayamma has filed a case against Venkatesh, his mother Munilakshmamma, brother Rajesh and sister Shantha alleging them of harassing Suma to bring more dowry.

J P Nagar police have registered a case in this connection and investigations are on.

In the another incident reported in Kumara Swamy Layout police station limits, Sindhumathi (22) hanged herself at her residence in Kumara Swamy Layout Second Stage.

She was married to Umashankar, a businessman, for more than four years and the couple had a one-year-old son.

The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
