BANGALORE: Woman serial killer Mallika alias Cyanide Mallika, 45, was awarded death sentence by the First Additional Rural Court here on Friday  in connection with a murder. Mallika has been given death sentence for the second time.

Mallika, who was arrested by Kalasipalya police at Kaggalipura on December 18, 2007, was charged of killing Nagaveni, 35, of Allalasandra in Yelahanka.

Mallika, used to loiter around temples and female devotees were her prime targets. She  had learnt that Nagaveni did not have children and convinced the her that she would conceive if she performed ‘Mandala Puja’ at Ghati Subramanya Temple in Doddaballapur. Later, she took Nagaveni to the temple and had killed her by making her consume cyanide mixed with water.

S K Umesh, who was then the inspector of Kalasipalyam, had investigated the case and had filed chargesheet. The judge found Mallika guilty in the case and awarded her death penalty.
