A gang of seven men allegedly barged into a house and robbed a family of gold jewels and cash in RHCS Layout in Annapoorneshwarinagar on Saturday night.

The robbery took place at the residence of Omkara Murthy, an autorickshaw driver. Police said Murthy, his wife, son, and three other relatives were at home when the incident took place. Around 10.30 pm, a gang of seven men came to the house on the pretext of asking donation for Ganesh festival celebrations.

They allegedly barged into the house and sprayed pepper spray into the eyes of all the family members. They later threatened them with lethal weapons and robbed gold ornaments worth 100 grams, Rs 80,000 and four mobile phones and fled. Murthy registered a case with Jnanbharathi police. Further investigations are on.
