‘Increase security at Hampi’

Blaming anti-Hindu forces for the recent vandalism of Gali Gopura at Hampi, historian M Chidananda Murthy on Tuesday urged the government to arrest the culprits and tighten security at the heritage site.

“The Gali Gopura was not destroyed for treasure. The intention was to harm our tradition. Arrest the culprits, regardless of which religion they follow,” Murthy said.

Speaking to reporters, he also said the government has to appoint security personnel and install cameras at the heritage site.
