Eight held with gold biscuits

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials arrested eight people, including a woman, at Bangalore International Airport for allegedly smuggling 6.6 kg of gold biscuits worth `2 crore.

Among them, six are Sri Lankan nationals and two are Indians. “We had received some credible information. Accordingly, we were waiting at the airport on Monday around 8 pm. As the suspects who arrived from Colombo in a Sri Lankan flight were trying to enter green channel area, we nabbed and questioned them. They confessed to carrying gold in their rectum. Six of them ejected the same while a woman was in possession of crude gold bangles,” a senior official said.

The accused have been remanded in judicial custody till October 20.
