Vayu Sainik camp concludes

A 10 day All India Vayu Sainik Camp organised by the NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa concluded in Bangalore recently.

 Over 600 NCC cadets, both boys and girls from all over the country participated in a series of professional competitions held at the camp, which started from October 8 at the Jakkur Air Field in Bangalore.

 Air Marshal PP Reddy, Senior Air Staff Officer, Headquarters Training Command was the chief guest. In his address, the Air Marshal said that the Armed Forces are the backbone of our country. He asked the cadets to join the defence services and civil aviation industry.

 He felt that the Indian Air Force and the Indian Aviation industry have a great role to play in our national development and so the Air Wing of the NCC will be a significant contributor.

 The Air Wing Cadets were given ample exposure in making “Static” aero models as well as “Flying” aircraft models.

 They were trained in para sailing, gliding and flying the microlite aircraft, and were given training in Skeet shooting as well. The cadets from different states competed for the ‘Best Cadet’ in different disciplines. During the camp, the cadets also got experience sorties on Indian Air Force aircraft. The Chief Guest gave away the medals to the winners in various competitions held during the camp.

 Tamil Nadu, Pondichery and Andaman Nicobar NCC Directorate won the over all Championship trophy and Madhya Pradesh and Chatisgarh NCC Directorate won the 2nd position .

 Best Directorate for Aeromodelling was won by Rajasthan Directorate. Best Directorate in Firing and Drill was won by Karnataka and Goa Directorate, Best in Line Area was won by Kerala and Lakshadeep Directorate.

 Best Pilot (Boys) was won by Cadet Kishore Singh Bhandari and Best Pilot (Girls) was won by Shradha P. Raju.

Cadet TM Saurav of Karnataka & Goa NCC Directorate won the Gold Medal in Health and Hygiene. Cadet Saurav is an eleventh standard student of Army Public School, Bangalore.

Air Commodore C.Rajeev, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate of Karantaka and Goa and other senior NCC Officers were present on the occasion.
