Techies plan to work while holidaying this weekend

This weekend, many young professionals and techies have planned to kill two birds with one stone. They have devised a plan to utilise the extended weekend to leave the city and unwind, without letting this affect their work.

So while some are planning to work with their laptops while sitting in nature’s lap, others will be slipping in work between skydiving, night moonlit trekking and fishing.

Adventure sports is the buzzword this weekend and many clubs and tour planners in the city have come up with special weekend packages to please adrenaline junkies.

Neeraj Malve, Founder, Bangalore Mountaineering Club said that overnight moonlit treks are selling like hot cakes this weekend.

“Antaragange in Kolar and Ramanagaram are two hot destinations this weekend. A huge group of people will be escaping to Antaragange on Saturday night for a night trek to explore the beauty of the place. There’s a cave mid way while trekking and adventure loving trekkers like to explore the cave and dig out some history. Rappelling and rock climbing in Ramanagaram is another hot option that many are going for,” he said.

The Bangalore Paragliding Club also has received back to back bookings for their skydiving package at the Mysore Airport.

“Diving off a place that is 10,000 feet above ground level is an experience that Bangaloreans are craving to experience and so out of the nine days we had planned, we are already booked for five days,” said D E Partha, manager of the club.

Kumara Parvata near Kukke Subramanya, Mullayanagiri near Chikmangalur, Bheemeshwari, Dandeli and Chitradurga are other places that are receiving high interest by Bangaloreans.

“We have planned to go on a two-day trip across some of the highest trek points in Karnataka and our package is quite reasonable. Thankfully our office has given us no deadlines but a stipulated quantity of work and so all of us will be working while holidaying,” said Gautam Khanna, a techie.

Meanwhile, in many offices, employees have been asked to work flexible hours. Chetan Jain , a techie, along with his friends will be working through the day on Saturday.

“After work, we will be heading to Kolar for a night trek, followed by a hill station visit the next day,” he said.

While the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has no special packages for this extended weekend, many Bangaloreans are still opting for the special packages that were introduced for Mysore Dasara.

“There are many bookings we are receiving for the same packages and since it is another extended weekend, many are extending the Mysore Dasara round about tour and adding more destinations,” a KSRTC official said.
