IIM-B not sure of new campus?

More than a year after the state government leased land to the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, for a second campus, the B-school is unclear on how to plan its expansion. Last year, IIM-B got 110 acres at Mahanthalingapura in Anekal (Jigani hobli) on lease. However, by the director Pankaj Chandra’s own admission, there have been no efforts to make a comprehensive expansion plan.

“There is no update on Anekal campus. We have not been able to put our minds together for planning, developing a master plan and other internal planning,” Chandra told reporters on the sidelines of the institute’s programme on Monday.

He ruled out the financial aspects for the delay of the new campus.

“We have many professors working on how we can make use of the Anekal land. The main issue now is that of resource sharing. How can we share faculty? How much of functions can be transferred to that campus? Finally, will students be willing to visit the other campus? These are some of the things we are looking at right now,” a source said.
