“The BBMP has failed to take action against Ramky Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Gayathri Srinivas Private Ltd for not maintaining Mavallipura and Mandur landfill sites respectively,” said Opposition leader M K Gunashekar.
At the Council meet on Tuesday, Gunashekar said in the history of BBMP, the last three months are the ‘black days’. “Though the BBMP council had taken a resolution in August 2012 to take action against Ramky, nothing has been done so far. As a result of Ramky’s negligence, we had to shut Mavallipura landfill and due to the work of Gayathri Srinivas, we had to face the wrath of villagers in Mandur. Why is the BBMP quite? It should file criminal cases and suspend their licenses,” he said.
He added that Municipal Solid Waste Management rules 2000, speaks of state government’s responsibility but the urban development department does not know its duties.
