Uncleared garbage affects flight operations

The IAF has raised concerns that uncleared garbage has increased bird activity perilously close to the flight path, risking both men and machines.

“We have written to the local administration pointing out to the pockets of garbage near the airbase,” Air Commodore Dharam Veer, Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station, Jalahalli, said.

He added that the IAF had placed their personnel to monitor illegal dumping. He said they interacted with locals to solve the problem, but were not happy with the results so far.

Veer added that IAF would conduct special awareness programmes during its 80th anniversary celebrations on September 8 and 9 at Orion Mall.

“We will conduct sessions on how to manage garbage. We will have specialists from our headquarters,” he said.
