Man kills wife, surrenders

A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and surrendered to the police after informing the matter to their control room. The victim has been identified as Surekha B Rai (34), an employee of a private firm. The accused, Lohith runs a fast food centre near CRPF campus on Doddballapur Road.

Family disputes and suspicion over fidelity is said to be the reason for the murder. The incident took place Purushothamma Layout in Yelahanka New Town police station limits on Thursday evening. He was earlier working in an IT company as a technical support staffer. Both hailed from Mangalore.

“Both had come into contact a few years ago and were in a live-in relationship for two years. They got married at a temple just two months ago. Lohith claims that he was reluctant to marry her as she was six years elder to him and was also allegedly close to a few other men.

He says he had to marry her as she blackmailed him. She was saying that she would frame him in a false case if he does not fulfil her monetary demands. All these aspects led him to kill her as per his statement,” the police stated. Yelahanka New Town police have registered a murder case and are investigating
