Former Bangalore University VC Prof K Siddappa on Sunday inaugurated the new website of Bangalore University College Teachers Association (BUCTA).
The new website, www.bucta.org, contains information about BUCTA, news, updates, important circulars and government orders.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Siddappa told teachers not to depend on universities and academic staff colleges to improve the standards of teaching. “You (teachers) need to develop your own programmes to improvise teaching.
As teachers, you should be increasing the gross enrolment ratio,” he stated. Dr Siddappa also lamented on the fact that Indian students were looking at foreign universities for higher education. “We have to reverse this trend and attract foreign students to study here. For that, we must improve our quality of higher education,” he said. The programme also coincided with the golden jubilee celebrations of the All India Federation of University College Teachers Organisation.
MLC and Karnataka Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson Ramachandra Gowda, former Collegiate Education director V Kamalamma, Federation of University College Teachers Organisation president C H Murugendrappa and BUCTA president K M Nagaraj were present on the occasion
