Over thousand school teachers cheered as they witnessed their colleagues receive the best teacher award given by the government as part of Teachers’ Day celebration, here on Saturday.

As many as 52 teachers from primary and secondary schools from Bangalore North Zone received awards for their performance and service to the field.

Addressing the gathering, Suresh Moona, founder Aarambh, historian and a teacher for nearly four decades said, “It is a challenge faced by teachers in present times as children are well advanced in seeking knowledge and are exposed to various topics by media. It is a greater responsibility now for teachers to be well equipped with adequate knowledge to face the childrens’ queries,” Suresh said.

“Primary and high school education is a very important phase in the lives of children and is heavily influenced by teachers,” Suresh explained.
