Pascal Mazurier bail plea adjourned

The High Court on Friday granted permission to Pascal Mazurier’s wife Suja Jones, the complainant, to implead herself as a second respondent in connection with the bail petition filed by Pascal Mazurier. Mazurier, a diplomat in the Consulate General of France in Bangalore, has been accused of raping his then three-year-ten-month-old daughter.

Justice H N Nagamohan Das directed Suja’s advocate to take senior lawyer Pramila Nesargi’s help and adjourned the hearing till Monday. Earlier, during the hearing, C V Nagesh argued that Suja used to go home late in an inebriated condition.

“When Pascal had tried to stop her, she used to pick up a quarrel with him. Now, she has filed a false case against him. Even the DNA report is negative. He should be granted bail,” he contended. Nagesh said that Suja Jones should not be granted permission to implead herself, as the bail petition is between his client and the state.
