A 35-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Agrahara Dasarahalli near Vijayanagar in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Bhagyalakshmi, a resident of Kottigepalya. She was a housewife.
According to the police, the incident took place around 2.30 pm when she was alone at home and she hanged herself from the ceiling after locking herself up inside the room.
After returning home, her elder son found her hanging and informed the police. It is said that Bhagyalakshmi was suffering from illness and she was also dejected over a family dispute, the police said.
The Kamakshipalya police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
