Bus mishap: 1 killed, 4 hurt

A passenger was killed and four others were injured after a speeding BMTC bus rammed into a road median on flyover near Tin Factory in K R Puram traffic police station limits on Tuesday morning.

Traffic was thrown out of gear in Hoskote for nearly two-and-half hours, as the rescue team tried to clear the way and shift the injured to a private hospital.

The deceased, Kutubuddin Mulla alias Bappi, 22, was working at a embroidery design shop in K R Market.

He was a native of West Bengal. The injured passengers have been identified as Ravindra Reddy, 28, the bus driver, Subba Rao, 28, Rajshekar, 32, and Krishna Iyengar, 44.

According to the police, around 6 am, the BMTC bus (KA 01 F 2383) was going towards K R Market from Hoskote. Meanwhile, the bus driver, who in a bid to  over take a speeding Pulsur motorcycle, lost control over the bus and rammed into the road median.

Mulla sustained severe injuries and he was shifted to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. It is said that the condition of Subba Rao is critical.

The other injured are said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the K R Puram traffic police have registered a case in this regard.
