Company-owned petrol bunks to remain open in Bangalore

Company-owned petrol bunks to remain open in Bangalore

Even as petrol bunks with individual dealerships have threatened not to buy fuel and work in shifts on October 1 and 2, company-owned petrol bunks have chosen to remain operational.

Demanding implementation of the Apoorva Chandra Committee report and a hike in dealers’ commission, all private-owned petrol bunks have decided not to buy petrol and diesel on Monday and Tuesday.

However, four bunks in the city owned by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), five owned by Indian Oil Corporation (BPCL) and two owned by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited have chosen to remain operational.

“All the five IOC owned petrol bunks in the city will be operational,” said G Ramesh, Chief Divisional Retail and Sales Manager, Indian Oil Corporation.

D K Barmon, Chief Regional Manager (Retail), HPCL explained, “Irrespective of the dealers’ stir, company owned petrol bunks will remain operational. There is no panic in the market.”

A senior official of BPCL also said both their company owned petrol bunks will remain operational on Monday and Tuesday.
