A four-month-old baby boy was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified miscreants from an autorickshaw at Chikkallasandra near Uttarahalli Main Road on Wednesday morning.

The police said Jyothi, a resident of Poornaprajna Layout in Uttarahalli, around 11.30 am, was travelling by an autorickshaw along the boy and her mother to a hospital.  She got down at a nearby medical shop to buy medicine for the boy.

Jyothi’s mother covered the boy with a cloth and made him sleep on the seat.

The auto driver got down from the auto and was speaking on the phone. The grandmother was looking in Jyothi’s direction.

Suddenly, when she turned around, she realised the boy was gone.

Jyothi rushed back hearing her mother scream. She questioned the auto driver, who did not respond properly and claimed he did not know anything. He forced them to get out of the auto, took his fare money and fled the scene.

A scared Jyothi did not inform anyone about the missing child. Her husband found her depressed when he returned home and she confided to him. He immediately filed a complaint. The Subramanyapura police are investigating the case.
