Registration for voter’s list ends tomorrow

For those who are yet to register for voter’s list, Sunday is the last day. To give the enrollment drive a final push over the next two days, volunteers have planned flash mobs across the city. Also, they will go to colleges and corporate offices to assist people with the enrollment process.

In addition, BBMP will keep its offices open on Sunday from 6 am to 6 pm.

According to BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah,  about 3 lakh offline registrations have been received so far, of which at least 2.4 lakh have been verified.

“We hope that a large number of new voters coming forward to register will be a game-changer in politics,” said Prithvi Reddy of Smart Vote. Through various campaigns, awareness drives and enrollment camps,  there has been a steady increase in the number of new voters.

“Over 4.44 lakh new voters have registered with us. The response over the last couple of months has been huge and it brings us closer to our One billion voters’ mark,” he said, adding this was, however, only the tip of an ice berg.

The next step would be to ensure that people make an informed choice, he said.
