The Self resides in our hearts and it is the Sadguru who helps us awaken to His presence in us.
Sadguru Murali Krishna is a living manifestation of this Supreme Consciousness to whose lotus feet we pay our respects. He appears to us externally (as Guru) to make us aware that he exists as Guru in our hearts. This Guru is none other than the Supreme Self.
Message from Sadguru Murali Krishna on Skanda Shasti (October 2009): Realising that we who are none else but the embodiment of the eternal truth, that all living beings in this universe belong to the nature of Shiva, know that all animate beings in this world are supported by a combination of the functioning of the five elements (panchabhuthom) (including air, water, fire, earth and wind), and constantly nurtured by absorbing from the five elements, all that is required for the advancement of their living, existence and growth!
It is through the severity of our tapas (penance) that we derive the energy to
overcome and triumph over asuric (demonic) forces that is the root cause for Adharma (unrighteousness), on this auspicious occasion of the skanda Shashti Maha-utsavam. Let us awaken that unblemished Subrahmanya consciousness in order to defend dharma (righteousness) in this world! Know that Skanda, who is none other than the commander-in-chief of the Gods, in order to awaken the power of desire, action and transcendental wisdom, (iccha shakti, kriya shakti, jnana shakti) will bestow unalloyed grace and bountiful blessings on all those who celebrate this auspicious day for the protection and well-being of the universe!

conquer the heights
Be ever attentive to serving those who come running
To catch a glimpse of that divine splendor!
Be animated by those
teachings
And the instructions given to those seekers
As they are capable of helping them secure victory!
