Meeting on Metro Phase II on June 25

Approval for Phase II of the Namma Metro Project is slowly inching forward with the the Union Finance Secretary convening a meeting of the Public Investment Board on June 25, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The Central government has already given its agreement to the expansion of the project. Phase I is currently in progress with Reach One commissioned in October, 2011. Three of the project is likely to be completed and commissioned by early next year. The state government has also approved phase II. The KIADB has been entrusted with acquiring land for phase II and the BMRCL has already begun preparatory works for construction.

Phase II covers 72.1 km and features new lines from the RV Road Terminal to Electronics City via Jayadeva Hospital and Silk Board. The other new line is from Nagavara to Gottigere via IIM-B along Bannerghatta Road.
