Suspended nurses asked to rejoin work

Members of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institution Stipendiary Association, who were suspended from service, have now been asked to rejoin as contract workers.

Speaking to Express, Rani Bai (named changed), a nurse, said they have been asked to report to work from Wednesday.

She said out of the 409 nurses who participated in a protest demanding regularisation of their services four months ago, 342 have been asked to join and 67 members are yet to get the appointment orders.

Swamy Muthu, another nurse, said: “We were suspended for seeking regularisation of our jobs and we will again take up the demand with the newly-elected Health Minister U T Khader.”
