Thieves make away with booty worth Rs 57 lakh

Unidentified miscreants broke into a doctor’s home at Horasavu Layout in Byapanahalli on Friday and made away with gold jewellery worth `57.5 lakh.

Dr Shashidhar, in his complaint, stated that miscreants managed to gain entry into his house after breaking the door around 10 pm when he and his family had gone to Indiranagar. After returning, Shashidhar found the house had been ransacked and gold jewellery weighing 1.2 kg was missing from his bedroom.

Police said miscreants seem to have kept a close watch on the family’s movements. The couple had employed security guards, but it was not clear if the guards were on duty at the time of the theft.
