The Department of Higher Education has recalled six members nominated by it from the Bangalore University (BU) Syndicate. An official communication was made to BU Vice-Chancellor B Thimme Gowda on Saturday.

The six members are D S Krishna, K V Acharya, Manasa Nagabhushanam, Zaheda Mulla, T H Srinivasaiah and C K Jagdish Prasad. They still had another five months before the end of their term.

The Karnataka State Universities (Second Amendment) Bill, 2013, provides for the inclusion of an elected representative to the Syndicate. However, it cannot be implemented as it is awaiting the Governor’s assent. “We will issue a notification regarding the withdrawal on Monday. We don’t know when the government will replace them,” Gowda  said.
