Youth murdered, 1 hurt in clash

A youth was hacked to death and his friend severely injured in a clash between two gangs at Guttahalli in Girinagar police station limits on Sunday night.

A youth was hacked to death and his friend severely injured in a clash between two gangs at Guttahalli in Girinagar police station limits on Sunday night.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as A P Vinay (22) of Srirampuram, a labourer, and the injured as Madhu of C Nagara in Pipeline Road. The incident took place near Martin Luther English School in Girinagar around 10.30 pm.

Police said Vinay had attacked one of Shivakumar’s friends over an old rivalry about six months back. On Sunday also, the duo had reportedly fought over a bike deal. After locals intervened the matter was resolved.

But Shivakumar was not convinced. Later, he and his friends, who came in two autorickshaws, attacked Vinay who was with his friends at R K Bar in Girinagar. Vinay and his friends escaped but Shivakumar and his men chased them.

Vinay and Madhu were attacked with machetes and iron rods.Passers-by shifted the duo to KIMS, where Vinay succumbed late on Sunday night.  Madhu, who is being treated in KIMS is out of danger, the police said.

Shivakumar and his men are absconding after the murder. The Girinagara police have registered a case against Shivakumar, Pradeep, Srinivas and seven others, all residents of Guttahalli, on charges of murder and attacking with lethal weapons.

Hoysala Vehicle Hits Pregnant Woman

A 25-year-old pregnant woman was injured when a police patrolling vehicle had  brake failure and hit her near her house in Hanumanthanagar police station limits.

The police said the injured, Chayadevi, was standing near her house in Kalidasa Layout when the vehicle in which the night beat police were patrolling had brake failure and hit her.

Chayadevi was shifted to KIMS. Doctors said she sustained leg injuries and was out of danger.
