'More parks in North Karnataka towns soon'

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will soon set up parks and gardens in towns across North Karnataka as part of its environmental conservation activities, chairman of the Board Vaman Acharya said.

Speaking at a programme organised to mark World Environment Day here on Tuesday, he said the northern part of the state suffers from severe water shortage and has to be enriched with greenery and more canopy.

 Minister of Forest and Environment B Ramanath Rai said there is an urgent need to reduce food wastage as it is affecting the environment and several underprivileged sections which do not have enough food to eat.

Students who participated in the green campaign initiative by Board called ‘Parisara Mitra Shaale’ that reached out to more than 60 lakh children across the state were felicitated.
