BMRCL not to seek review in Jayadeva alignment

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Thursday said that it will not seek review of the decision to locate the station at Jayadeva Circle on RV Road-Bommasandra line outside the hospital. This essentially leaves the protesting public with no option but to approach courts.

“Location of the station at Jayadeva Hospital premises is not feasible in public interest and also other public infrastructure cannot be dismantled merely to protect the properties of some patrons who will be affected by the decision,” a statement by BMRCL said.

The BMRCL further declined to reconsider the proposed alignment change near Vydehi Hospital Circle since it will affect the BMTC facility in the area.

However, BMRCL also said that it will make available necessary documents related to the decisions, including file notings, available to the public under the RTI Act.

However, citizens who will be losing their properties in the Jayadeva case have not lost hope. “Elected bodies are saying they will revise the plan and therefore, we still have some hope. The BMRCL is trying to save only the hospital. There are no technical members on the High-Powered Committee and this decision is purely a bureaucratic one. The government seems to be run by bureaucrats,” said K Ramesh, Co-ordinator of the Jayadeva Interchange Metro Victims’ Forum.

He added that on June 25, when BMRCL meets with the PIB, they will have their answer. “We have our representatives in Delhi who will show the under-estimated costs BMRCL is showing for the project and how this realignment will only cost more,” he said.
