Gang makes vain bid to rob two ATMs

Just three days after a gang of seven decamped with an automated teller machine (ATM) at Bagalur, another group tried to make away with two ATMs in Vidyaranyapura and Jnana Bharathi police station limits, but did not succeed.

The police said that four unidentified men first came to SBI ATM near Ramachandrapura Main Road in Vidyaranyapura on Wednesday night around 1 am.  They masked the CCTV cameras and tried to take away the ATM. However, a security guard of the nearby Union Bank, who heard some noise, raised alarm. Fearing it to be police, the gang fled.

Thirty minutes later, they made their way to the United Bank in Marathahalli near Jnana Bharathi. Here too, they covered the CCTV cameras and tried to decamp with the ATM but had no luck.

The incident came to light when bank officials came to load money to the ATM. Cases have been registered.
