A case under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act and criminal intimidation under Section 506 of IPC has been filed against Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy and Basavanagudi councillor B S Satyanarayana by BBMP Pourakarmikara and Health Gangmen Union on Saturday at Halasuru Gate police station.
The union has also called for a protest on Monday seeking action against the mayor and councillor.
Union president Narasimha alleged that at a function organised on June 20 to celebrate Dr B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Satyanarayana had ill-treated a leader of the Backward Classes and insulted them by sending them away from the function venue. The mayor, who was present, turned a blind eye, Narasimha said.
