Girl killed in mishap

A 15-year-old girl was killed while her brother and two cousins were severely injured when a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler on Tumkur Road (NH-4) near Kunigal Circle in Nelamangala town on Monday evening.

The deceased Savitha was a student of class IX at a private school. Her brother Srinivas (21), and cousins Suchitra (12) and Varshini (7) were rushed to a private hospital. Their condition is said to be stable. All are residents of Subedhara Palya in Yeshwantpur, police said.

The incident occurred around 4.30 pm when Srinivas, an engineer with a computer and printer service centre at Malleswaram, was returning home after attending a family function.

The children’s family had also attended the function and had told Srinivas to take the children on the bike, while they took a bus. He, along with the three children was on his way when a speeding car plying towards Nelamangala Flyover, rammed into his two-wheeler, killing Savitha on the spot.

Nelamangala Town police registered a case of negligence driving against the car driver and are investigating.
