Students honoured at graduation day ceremony of Sriram Engineering College

Sriram Engineering College celebrated their 16th graduation day on Thursday on the college campus. Principal G Nalankilli welcomed the gathering.

Dr Asit Mandal, director, CSIR-CLRI, delivered the graduation day address and presented degree certificates to 535 graduates and medals for university rank holders and class toppers of each branch.

In his address he stressed the need for the study of various energies like wind energy. He spoke about the space and time discussed by Shakespeare which is also applicable to science. He explained the social and ethical ideals which are the biggest contributing factors for the development of an ideal system of education. He urged the students to follow the hard working principles of Rabindiranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita.

S Sivanesan, registrar, Anna University and dean, A C Tech, delivered a special address on the occasion. He insisted that the graduates should exhibit their inherent talents and capabilities along with their knowledge and courage and should be able to shoulder the challenges that they face in society. Knowledge alone does not lead one to a good life. Knowledge gives the power for discrimination of good from bad and right from wrong. Integrity, honesty, sincerity and modesty are moral virtues and knowledge added to these virtues helps one to lead a good life.

Chairperson of the Sriram Educational Trust V Vasanthi Devi presided over the function.

Trustees G Ramakrishnan, R B Kumar, A Purushothaman, Kasthuri Parthasarathy and M DBalaji were present at that event.
