The Additional City Civil and Session Court on Friday ordered in-camera proceedings into the gangrape of a 21-year-old student of the prestigious National Law School of India University (NLSIU) student on October 13 last year in the forest area of Bangalore University campus.
Judge K B Sangannanavar took up the case for hearing at 12 noon. After a request by Public Prosecutor S V Bhattaru to hear the case privately, the judge ordered in-camera proceedings. Then seven witness, including a male friend of a victim, were present before the court. The judge then asked the police to produce the six accused, but surprisingly, they had not been brought from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. The judge asked the police to produce the accused in the afternoon.
The six accused - Ramu, Doddairayya, Shivanna, Maddura, Yeleyayya and Irayya of Ramanagaram and Mattaradodigudda were finallly brought to the court at 4 pm. After hearing the witnesses, the judge posted the case to Saturday for further hearing. Police will produce another eight witnesses on Saturday.
The court will hear the case every day and 44 more witnesses will be examined.
Seven witness, including a male friend of the victim, who was with her during the incident, came to the court on Friday at 10.30 am. The case was taken up at noon, but police failed to bring the accused.
On the directions of the judge, they rushed to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison and brought them at 4 pm, Meanwhile, two witnesses lost their patience and left the court premises.
Jnanabharathi Police said blamed the KSRP for not sending an escort party.
