Major shakeup in police top brass

Senior police officer Raghavendra H Auradkar, who was posted as Bangalore City Police Commissioner ahead of the elections, has returned as the city police chief. The state also has a new intelligence chief in Ashit Mohan Prasad.

In the first major reshuffle of senior police officials, the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddarmaiah, replaced the incumbent intelligence chief Gopal B Hosur with the 1985 batch officer Prasad. Sources in the government said Prasad worked in Mysore as SP when Siddaramaiah was deputy CM in the J H Patel government.

“Prasad enjoys a good rapport with the CM and is considered to be a man of integrity with a clean track record,” an IPS officer told Express. Prior to this posting, Prasad was ADGP, Crime and Technical Services.  B G Jyothiprakash Mirji has swapped postings with Raghavendra Auradkar as Principal Secretary to Home Department.

Senior IPS officer Bipin Gopalkrishna has been appointed as ADGP, CID while M N Reddy has taken over as ADGP, Law and Order, from Bipin. 

In other postings in Bangalore, the position of IGP and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime-West) Pronab Mohanty has been redesignated as Additional Commissioner (crime) including City Crime Branch. DIGP Bijay Kumar Singh has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, East) while S Ravi has been appointed as Joint Commissioner (Law and Order, West). B Dayananda will be new Additional Commissioner (Traffic and Security) in place of M Abdulla Saleem, who has been posted as Mysore City Police Commissioner.

Gopal Hosur is IGP, Home Guards and Civil Defence in place of Ulfath Hussain, who has been posted as IGP, Administration (Chief Office) in Bangalore. Alok Mohan has been appointed as ADGP (Administration) and also given additional charge as ADGP (Internal Security).

N S Megharik, who was ADGP (CID), is posted as ADGP (Crime and Technical Services) while Sanjay Sahaya will be IGP (Internal Security). Dr S Parashiva Murthy has been posted as ADGP (Eastern division in Davaagere), N Shivakumar, IGP (Planning and Modernisation, Davanagere) and K L Sudheer, IGP and Additional Director (Fire Services).
