A 38-year-old bank manager was brutally attacked by a mugger seconds after she entered an ATM kiosk in a busy commercial area of Bangalore on Tuesday.

A profusely bleeding Jyoti Uday Kumar, manager of Corporation Bank on Mission Road here, was rescued three hours after the attack.

Police said Jyoti, a resident of Rajarajeswarinagar, alighted from a bus on JC Road around 7.30 am. On her way to her branch, she entered the Corporation Bank ATM on the ground floor of the LIC Building.

Suddenly, a man barged into the facility, pulled down the shutter and smashed her head with a machete. He then walked out of the kiosk, pulling the shutters down.

Policemen, who later rushed to the spot found Jyoti lying in a pool of blood, and shifted her to Victoria Hospital. From there, she was referred to Nimhans and later to a hospital. She is out of danger, an investigating officer said.
