All efforts are on to persuade the Union Defence Ministry to set up the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) manufacturing unit of Advanced Utility Helicopter in Bidar district.

Former chief minister N Dharam Singh told Express here on Sunday that district administration has identified three locations in Bidar district and communicated it to the Ministry.

Claiming that Union Defence Minister A K Antony himself had shown personal interest to set up HAL’s helicopter manufacturing unit in Bidar, Singh said, “It would help to boost economic activities in and around the region.”

Informing that the State government has responded positively when the Defence Ministry proposed the project, by offering to make available the required land to set up the plant free of cost, the  Bidar MP said, “I have planned to meet the Union Defence Minister Antony appealing to expedite the project. I have already held couple of rounds of meetings with the Union minister, who had expressed interest in it.”

The Lok Sabha member from Bidar, said: “There is no issues relating to availability of required lands and its acquisition.”
