BBMP engineers will not be allowed to take leave for five days from Wednesday, as the Palike has taken up a pothole-filling drive.

A circular issued by the BBMP Additional Commissioner (Admin) B B Cauvery on Wednesday says the civic body has taken up a pothole-filling drive for five days starting Wednesday. During this time, all engineers including junior engineers, assistant engineers, assistant executive engineers and executive engineers cannot take leave. They should not participate in any public or private event and ensure that all potholes in their jurisdictions are filled in the given time. The circular was issued on the Standing Committee (Public works) chairman A H Basavaraju’s recommendation.

Speaking to reporters, Basavaraju said the BBMP has released `5 lakh per ward to fill potholes. On the various deadlines that have gone by, Basavaraju said that work was not taken up in the last few days due to rains.
