Abducted businessman rescued, 4 nabbed

In a joint operation on Saturday, Banasawadi and Mahadevapura police arrested a gang of four men who allegedly kidnapped a travel agency owner and assaulted him after locking him inside a room in Banasawadi.

In a joint operation on Saturday, Banasawadi and Mahadevapura police arrested a gang of four men who allegedly kidnapped a travel agency owner and assaulted him after locking him inside a room in Banasawadi.

The accused are identified as Prabhakar, Deelip, Chetan and Chandan. A senior police officer said that they had allegedly kidnapped Anand (23), the owner of Supriya Travels in Mahadevapura. He was kidnapped on Friday while returning home. The armed gang kidnapped him near Mahadevapura Bridge in a car. The accused, who are said to be his friends, locked him inside a room at Banasawadi and called the victim’s family over phone and demanded `10 lakh.

The Mahadevapura police were informed about the incident by the victim’s family. Police tracked the accused through their mobile phones. The Mahadevapura police registered a case and are investigating. The exact motive for the kidnapping is yet to be ascertained.
