A 28-year-old woman, who was living alone, was found strangulated to death at her house in AKG Colony on Channasandra Road at Kadugodi in Whitefield on Saturday. Police suspect that the victim, who was strangulated with an electric wire before being suffocated, may have been sexually assaulted before the murder.

The victim was identified as Shahina, who had been living alone after separating from her husband. She was employed in the canteen department of an MNC.

Police officials said that the incident came to light in the evening after neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from Shahina’s house. They grew suspicious and informed police as Shahina had not been seen outside for some days. Police rushed to the spot and found the body, which was lying on the floor inside a room.

Shahina may have been murdered around two or three days ago. Police also suspect that persons known to Shahina may have been involved in the murder as there were no signs of forcible entry. Kadugodi police registered a case.
