Postgraduate students of Bangalore University (BU) will soon undergo a skill assessment to gauge where they stand on the employability front.

On Friday, the University signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aspiring Minds Assessments, which will administer the online test to 2,000 PG students.

Over 200 MBA students of BU had participated in the pilot test conducted recently.  “There is a need for such analysis and it will be great if the company helps the University in taking appropriate steps to help students overcome their shortcomings,” , Vice-Chancellor Dr B Thimme Gowda said.

Explaining the project, Shiladitya Patnaik, associate vice-president of Aspiring Minds Assessments, said, “The online test is of three hours. The results will be sent to candidates via email within a week. The consolidated report will be handed over to the university.” The company is already carrying out an assessment of 80 UG colleges affiliated to BU.

Prof M K Sridhar, BU’s placement officer, said, “This year, the test is free. From next year, we will ask the company to do it for a nominal rate.” Registrar Prof K K Seethamma and director of distance education Prof TD Kemparaju were present.
