Mahavir Jayanti Celebrated

Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated at various places in the city on Sunday.

The occasion marked the 2,613rd birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the last Thirthankara of Jains.

A rally was organised at Wilson Garden where thousands of people participated. A maha mastakabhisheka of Mahavir marked the beginning of the day’s festivities. The occasion included prayers, visits to temples, processions and meditation sessions.

At Jayanagar, a free diabetes check-up camp was held. Shawls, utensils, towels and food packets were distributed to handicapped people by S K Nahar, Chairman, Jain Hospital.
