My Focus is on Films: Radhika

Radhika Kumaraswamy who sizzled on the silver screen with Sweety is all geared up to start her next film Rudratandava. The film directed by Guru Deshpande is a remake of the Tamil hit Pandiya Naadu and Radhika will be seen opposite Chiranjeevi Sarja in the Kannada version. “The main reason for me to take up this film is to prove that I would love to work outside my banner, provided the script is good. This subject was exceptional,” she says.

Radhika’s portrayal in Rudratandava will be of a glamourous teacher and she will be mostly seen in beautiful sarees.

“When the makers of the film approached me to do this role, the first person who came into my mind was Sushmita Sen who conquered many hearts with her teacher’s role in Main Hoon Na. Since my inclination is towards glamourous roles, I chose to wear some to woo the audience in a new avatar. Guru Deshpande’s wife will be designing my outfits for the film,” she says.

According to Radhika, doing a remake is challenging. She explains. “I have done remakes and every time, I have watched the original. This helps me perform as good as the actor in the original or even better. However, the director has made a lot of changes in the film to match the Kannada nativity.”

The actress who has learnt the act of balancing her personal and professional life has planned to spent some quality time with her daughter before she heads for the shoot from May 10, which will be in Kolar and Bangarpet.

“Since I chose to be back in movies, I need to stick to my profession and also make time for my daughter and family, which I kind of am trying to work out,” explains Radhika and also reveals that she has already agreed to sign another project with producer Raghuram.

“I have worked with Vijay before in Prem Khaidi and am glad to be working with him again,” she shares.

Radhika shows no interest in politics. She says, “I was on a sabbatical for six years and just made a comeback with Sweety. At present I am only thinking about cinema and politics is far from my mind,” she signs off.
