BMTC Bus Hits Three, One Dead

A 34-year-old woman was killed while three others including the bus driver sustained injuries, when a speeding BMTC BUS rammed on a signal pole at New Byapanahalli near Indiranagar on Friday morning. The driver, who drove the bus in a reckless manner, was arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Esa, a domestic helper in a private company, and the injured are Lavanya, Muniraju and bus driver Kumar. The police said the incident took place around 7.45 am, when the bus was going towards KR Puram from Majestic. As the bus reached Sudduguntepalya, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed on the signal pole and then hit Esa, Lavanya and Muniraju who were standing at the bus stop. The locals rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, where Esa was declared brought dead. The bus driver has claimed that it was a break failure that led to the accident. But BMTC managing director Anjum Parvez denied the claim. “The bus was driven to the

police station from the scene of the accident in working condition. It is not a case of brake failure and it is the driver’s recklessness,” he said.

BMTC announces an immediate compensation for the victim’s kin in such cases, after which further compensation is awarded by the court according to Motor Vehicle Act. Indiranagar Traffic Police are investigating the case.
