Hiriyur bus Accident Death Toll Rises to seven

The number of victims, who were killed in an accident near Hiriyur recently, has increased to seven now. Sripriya (20), who was receiving treatment along with her husband Sanjay Acharaya at BGS Global Hospital, died here on Tuesday.

Vice-Chairman of the hospital Dr N K Venkataramana said, “They were admitted with burns. Sanjay has suffered seven per cent injuries and is receiving treatment. Supriya, who had sustained 60 per cent injuries, succumbed on Tuesday.”

He also said that the victim had also inhaled toxic smoke and was consequently experiencing difficulties in breathing. On April 16, a private bus coming to Bangalore from Davangere had caught fire on NH 4 near Metikurke in Hiriyur taluk  in Chitradurga district in the wee hours. Six people were killed and 15 had sustained injuries. The bus, belonging to SPR Tours and Travels, was operating out of Bangalore. It started around 9 pm, picked passengers from Davangere and other places.  ENS
