Missing Realtor Found Dead in Lake

Police said he might have committed suicide as he  could not tolerate the harassment from some private financiers for repayment of the loan.

He was a resident of J P Nagar and running a construction business.

Kumar went missing on April 14 and his brother-in-law Srishankar had filed a missing complaint with K R Puram police. As he did not turn up even after two days, Srishankar had also filed a kidnap case.

Military staff at Avalahalli found Kumar’s body floating in the lake and alerted the p0lice on Tuesday. The police rushed to the spot and identified the deceased after finding an ID card with him.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Kumar gone to the tank bund with his driver Bhat in the evening on April 14 and went missing around 7.30 pm. As he did not return, Bhat informed the matter to his family.

Kumar, who had built a couple of complexes around K R Puram, had borrowed `20 crore from some private financiers and they were allegedly harassing him for repayment. He might have taken the extreme step as he was upset with this, the police said.

Meanwhile,  Kumar’s wife Savitha filed habeas corpus petition in the High Court on Tuesday.

In the petition, Savitha claimed that police were not making any efforts to find her husband despite lodging a missing complaint. The court issued a notice to the Police Department in this connection.

Labourer Dies  in Wall Collapse 

A labourer from Tamil Nadu died and another was seriously injured when a 20 foot wall collapsed on them at a construction site near Anil Kumble Circle on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Cubbon Park police, seven labourers were digging a sump around 3.30 pm. The two victims were inside the sump, removing mud, when the wall fell, along with the beam.

Vedi (40) died on the spot while Poobalan (46) sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Bowring Hospital by  the workers.

Poobalan is still in ICU and his condition is said to be serious.

They were working for Someshwara Builders, according to the police.
