BESCOM Plans to Shift Billing Date

Around 15.68 lakh electricity consumers in the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) will see a change in their billing date from next month as the energy utility plans to shift the date to a range between the 1st and 15th of every month.

Around 15.68 lakh electricity consumers in the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) will see a change in their billing date from next month as the energy utility plans to shift the date to a range between the 1st and 15th of every month.

According to officials, those customers who are billed under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) and have a billing date later than the 15th will see this change. Their billing dates will be fixed by the local staff to a date within the 15th to enable same month bill collection.

The R-APDRP system has a total of 58.79 lakh consumers of BESCOM and is maintained for cities and towns with a population of more than 30,000. The reason for the shift, according to officials, is that it will allow better monitoring of revenue collection as well as transmission losses.

“Bills will be issued on a pro rata basis to consumers who have been billed after the 15th this month. Next month onwards their bills will reach them before the 15th,” a senior official said.

Pro rata bills will be issued

If you have been billed on the 20th of April and if the new billing date for your account is 10th of every month, a pro rata bill will be issued to you for 20 days between the 20th of April and 10th of May. From the following month onwards, your bill date will be the 10th of each month.
