Cab Driver Stabbed, Robbed

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old cab driver was allegedly abducted, stabbed and robbed by four members, including an autorickshaw driver at Basaveshwaranagar late on Saturday night.

According to the Soladevanahalli police, Ullas had gone to Chikkabanavara railway station to see a friend off. He hired an autorickshaw to return home. It was a remote place and it was around 11 pm already. Three others were already in the autorickshaw.

Once he got into the autorickshaw, however, the driver and his friends began taking him around the city.

“They passed Bagalgunte, Vyalikaval, Chalukya Circle and when they reached Basaveshwarnagar around 1 am, the three in the auto demanded Ullas to hand over whatever money he had with him. When he refused, they stabbed him multiple times and he was finally robbed of `2000. His mobile phone was snatched and they finally dropped near Mysore Bank circle,” the police said.

Ullas’s condition is stable now and he is out of danger, they added.

“We have registered a case of armed robbery and are looking for the suspects based on the details given by Ullas,” the police said.
