Annamalai University Staff Get Biometric ID Cards

Around 12,000 employees of Annamalai University will now have biometric identity cards. On Tuesday, 74 employees in the administrative office were given the card, while the remaining employees will be provided with biometric cards within a month. Since the university comes under the State government, several administrative, financial and academic measures have been taken to streamline its functioning.

In a bid to bring about administrative changes, the university has taken up the biometric staff database management system. In the first phase, biometric data and photographs of all staff have been captured and data base created. The second phase which involves issuing of biometric based identity cards and its use in attendance management has been inaugurated by Shiv Das Meena, IAS, principal secretary to the government of Tamil Nadu and administrator of the university.
