IISc Gets Centre of Excellence

BANGALORE: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra, inaugurated the Centre of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus, here on Tuesday.

A press release stated that the Centre is a joint initiative of Ministry of MSME and IISc. With its vast repository of knowledge of researchers and intellectuals, IISc will contribute to innovation, competitiveness and growth in MSME sector through this centre.

It will act as a platform for process and product design and development by identifying and providing comprehensive solutions for indigenisation and value engineering to industries. The concept was initiated after detailed deliberations, and eight departments within IISc were identified for the purpose, the release said.

While appreciating the efforts of the Ministry and IISc in taking this initiative forward, the Minister added that this will take the manufacturing sector, particularly MSMEs, to greater heights.
