7 Held for Blackmailing Doc

The City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested seven youngsters for allegedly blackmailing a doctor after engaging in homosexual acts with him and secretly filmed  him.

BANGALORE: The City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested seven youngsters for allegedly blackmailing a doctor after engaging in homosexual acts with him and secretly filmed  him.

The youngsters even posed as media reporters and police to extort money from the doctor on multiple occasions. According to a statement from the CCB, Suhas (21), a Tata Sky technician, befriended the doctor when he realised that the latter was homosexual.

He hatched a plan along with his friends Diwakar (19), Madhu (19) and Vikas (21), to extort money from the doctor.About a month ago, Suhas and Diwakar had sex with the doctor and Madhu and Vikas filmed them. The four showed the doctor the videos and demanded that he pay `5 lakh to hush up the matter and he did.

However, a fortnight later, Madhu and Suhas, along with Vishwa (21), Mahesh alias Jungli (19) and Nikesh (22) approached the doctor, posing as TV reporters and police. This time, the doctor paid them `11 lakh. The seven split the money amongst themselves, spending it on gadgets and a lavish lifestyle.

Based on a complaint from the doctor, the CCB launched an operation and nabbed the seven near Avalahalli Park.

The police recovered `6 lakh and the CPU in which the video is stored. Abhishek Goyal, DCP, CCB, said after consulting legal experts, a decision on adding Section 377 to the case will be taken.

Woman Succumbs to Burns

A 40-year-old woman, who had set herself ablaze on Sunday, succumbed to burns on Tuesday.

According to Hebbal police, Anjali and her husband of over 30 years, Masalamani, frequently argued over his excessive drinking and this pushed her to suicide. 

“On Sunday night, Masalamani came home inebriated. He had bought mutton and asked her to cook it, but soon passed out. Frustrated, Anjali poured kerosene and set herself ablaze,” police said. Masalamani woke up to her screams and managed to get her to a hospital, where she told her eldest son the reason for the suicide attempt.
