Engg Student Dies After Consuming Acid

Upset over failing in exams and being reprimanded by a professor for being in love with his classmate, a 21-year-old engineering student, identified as Kiran, consumed acid on Wednesday. He died early on Friday.

BANGALORE: Upset over failing in exams and being reprimanded by a professor for being in love with his classmate, a 21-year-old engineering student, identified as Kiran, consumed acid on Wednesday. He died early on Friday.

A native of Bidar, he was a second-year student of Rajarajeshwari College of Engineering on Mysore Road and stayed in the college hostel. Police said Kiran consumed acid when he was alone in his room on Wednesday evening. His friends rushed him to a hospital later. As his condition did not improve, he was shifted to another hospital in Basavanagudi where he succumbed. Kumbalagodu police are questioning his friends and relatives.

PU Student Hangs Self

Dejected over her father not speaking to her for a month, an 18-year-old PUC student committed suicide by hanging at her house in Hesaraghatta on Thursday. The deceased Ani was studying in a private college near Peenya.

Police said Ani hanged herself when she was alone at home. Her mother found her body after she returned from work and informed the police.

They found a suicide note which stated that she was upset with her father, who works as a car driver, for not talking to her since a month.

He was an alcoholic and  quarrelled often with his wife, Peenya police said.
